In the world of American rap, no greater rivalry was formed during the 80s and 90s regarding the gangsters coming from the West Coast and the East Coast. Violence and disses were all over the place. This somewhat is related to the rap slang ”westside.”

Westside often refers to a place where the OG or real gangsters come from. Westside very much substitutes the term West Coast. It is also used to describe a gangster’s state of mind where fear does not reside. Here are some examples of its usage:

“Tupac, the goat of rap, is an OG westside gangster.”

And

“Coming from the westside is tough. I had to endure many trials.”
